PAST EVENTS

On May 13, 2005, a launch of the book, On Monique Wittig: Theoretical, Political, And Literary Essays, edited and introduced by Namascar Shaktini (Urbana & Chicago: University of Illinois Press, 2005), took place at the Toronto Women’s Bookstore, in Canada. The editor and two other authors were present. This launch, supported by the French Department and the Sexual Diversity Studies Centre of the University of Toronto, and Florida Atlantic University, had been planned as a Tribute to Monique Wittig. For this special event, some of the participants wrote and/or read texts of homage, while a few other admirers sent their own written appreciations. During the launch, the 13 following tributes were exhibited at the Toronto Women’s Bookstore in a special large book which the organizers had named The Great Register, in memory of Les Guérillères. The Great Register has been circulated in Quebec, Canada, and can now be borrowed from Dominique Bourque dbourque@uottawa.ca.

Le 13 mai 2005 eut lieu à la Librairie des Femmes de Toronto, au Canada, le lancement du livre On Monique Wittig, Theoretical, Political, and Literary Essays, dirigé et introduit par Namascar Shaktini (Urbana & Chicago: Presses de l’Université d’Illinois, 2005). La directrice et deux autres auteures y étaient présentes. Ce lancement, soutenu financièrement par le Département d’Études françaises et le Centre d’Études sur la Diversité Sexuelle de l’Université de Toronto, et par la Florida Atlantic University, avait été conçu en hommage à Monique Wittig. À cette occasion, quelques participant-e-s écrivirent et/ou lurent des textes d’hommage alors que d’autres admirateurs/trices envoyèrent leur propre témoignage écrit. Pendant le lancement, les 13 appréciations suivantes furent exposées à la Librairie des Femmes dans un grand cahier spécial que les organisatrices avaient nommé Le Grand Registre en souvenir des Guérillères. Le Grand Registre a déjà circulé au Québec, au Canada, et peut être emprunté maintenant à Dominique Bourque dbourque@uottawa.ca.
